Day 29 : Council of Agriculture & Dinner with Ambassador of Taiwan from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

It was our pleasure to be invited to the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan by the Minister of Agriculture. Linda, one of the executive officer briefs us about the current situation of the wild life stocks and agriculture in Taiwan. Many laws have been implemented to protect the animals and the environment, however the enforcement is not stringent enough to keep the people abide by the laws.
A short video of about 20 minutes was played to introduce the agriculture in Taiwan. Advancement and development of biotechnology have improved the yield and quality of crops, and contributes to a portion of the nation income. Farmers and breeders were given trainings and subsidies to improve their farming using the modern method.
After watching the video, we had a question and answer session to learn more about the agriculture in Taiwan. Before leaving the office, each of us received a goodies bag of “Animal Production in Taiwan” book, a CD and a bag.
We had a full-course Chinese dinner with the Ambassador of Taiwan from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at a Chinese restaurant. Before the Amb. Wu arrived, Madame Liu reminded us of the menus in Chinese dinner. Dishes come one after another, and I can’t remember we had how many dishes that night. We were extremely full after the dinner. Amb. Wu told us that many scholarships are given out to foreign students to study in Taiwan and he encouraged us to further our studies here. Vitzy and Jovian are thinking of doing their post-graduate in Taiwan. Taiwan is a interesting and colourful country, I will definitely come back for holiday.
