Cherish Every Moment in Taiwan

After staying and experiencing a life changing moment in the Formosa island for 40 days, finally I had to say Goodbye to the people meant a lot to me in Taiwan. On my last day in Taiwan, I was very excited to go back home, I missed my family and my darling dog. I went to the Taoyuan Airport with Jovian early in the morning and changed 4 transportation, bus > MRT > HSR > taxi, just for the sake of experiencing the High Speed Rail, instead of taking the Guoguang bus straight to the airport, the far more cheaper and convenient way. After Jovian left at about 9am, I stayed in the airport alone for about 6 hours until 3pm for my flight. I was terribly bored at the airport, could not connect to the internet, so I viewed the thousands of photos taken by Jovian and Arkka to pass my time.

The photos reminded me of everything in Taiwan. Great times always fly exceptionally fast. I miss the place and the people I met in Taiwan. I want to give Madam Liu a big hug and say "Thank You" again. She is a very inspiring lady, already 70 years old but still has a 26-year-old heart. I am very grateful and feel very lucky to participate in this project organized by Taiwan Life Welfare and Environment Quality Association 社團法人中華民國動物福利環保協進會 led by Madam Liu. She is a far-sighted woman, she ran this project to plant the seeds in us, hoping that we can disperse the seeds of knowledge when we go back to our home country, spreading the words of love for animals and all living things. She told us not to underestimate our capability, start influencing our circle of friends, people around us, we can make an enormous change to the world. I really appreciate her care and generousity during our internship. She provided us good accommodation, delicious Taiwanese food, arranged courses delivered by professors from prestigious Taiwan univeristy and also courses at Taipei and Taichung animal shelter, and also National Chung-Hsing University of Veterinary Medicine. Besides that, Madam Liu also shared with us her life story and her perspective towards life. Being kind and show respect to the other living things and the environment is actually being kind to ourselves. Remember, the earth does not belong to human only.I will definitely go back to Taiwan again to explore places that I have not visited yet and of course to visit Madam Liu and her warm family, as well as my Taiwanese friends ^_^

Last but not least, thank you AIESEC for giving me the opportunity to participate in such a wonderful and meaningful project.

Day 30 : Lunch with Taipei City Councilor

We were invited to have lunch with the Taipei city councilor, Ms Huang and her assistant at the Taipei Council Office. They are both gorgeous and hilarious ladies. Basically it was just a simple lunch and small talks. And Ms. Huang offered us Taiwanese beer.

Free blood pressure test at the Songshan Station. 119mmHg/75mmHg, very healthy.

Day 29 : Council of Agriculture & Dinner with Ambassador of Taiwan from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

It was our pleasure to be invited to the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan by the Minister of Agriculture. Linda, one of the executive officer briefs us about the current situation of the wild life stocks and agriculture in Taiwan. Many laws have been implemented to protect the animals and the environment, however the enforcement is not stringent enough to keep the people abide by the laws.
A short video of about 20 minutes was played to introduce the agriculture in Taiwan. Advancement and development of biotechnology have improved the yield and quality of crops, and contributes to a portion of the nation income. Farmers and breeders were given trainings and subsidies to improve their farming using the modern method.
After watching the video, we had a question and answer session to learn more about the agriculture in Taiwan. Before leaving the office, each of us received a goodies bag of “Animal Production in Taiwan” book, a CD and a bag.
We had a full-course Chinese dinner with the Ambassador of Taiwan from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at a Chinese restaurant. Before the Amb. Wu arrived, Madame Liu reminded us of the menus in Chinese dinner. Dishes come one after another, and I can’t remember we had how many dishes that night. We were extremely full after the dinner. Amb. Wu told us that many scholarships are given out to foreign students to study in Taiwan and he encouraged us to further our studies here. Vitzy and Jovian are thinking of doing their post-graduate in Taiwan. Taiwan is a interesting and colourful country, I will definitely come back for holiday.
